Manufacturers talk higher prices for fine papers in Germany

Gepubliceerd op:

Price increases of €20-40/t are currently being discussed in many European fine paper markets. In light of favourable market conditions, suppliers of uncoated woodfree paper in particular are optimistic that prices in Germany will rise.

Talks on higher prices for fine paper in Germany are in full swing at the start of March. By now all market participants have informed their customers about plans to raise sales prices, blaming its decision on higher production costs, expensive raw material prices as well as lower margins. Merchants are also demonstrating solidarity in this regard and are moreover planning to charge customers for services provided. Given longer delivery times and tight supplies, producers of uncoated grades in particular are optimistic that they will quickly be able to conclude negotiations in their favour. Many producers of woodfree uncoated paper are reportedly overbooked. There are reports about delivery bottlenecks and volume reductions with producers regularly asking customers for permission to delay deliveries. There is talk of major supply bottlenecks for offset reels. In some cases, delivery dates are only being confirmed as of May.
